In contrast, Google Antigravity allows you to get a significant amount of development done right away with just a free account.😇 - By properly configuring the MCP and Skills, which we will cover in this post, you can make this Google Antigravity work even smarter with just a free account, effectively ~~whipping it into shape😈~~. This article will cover the basic settings that are good to have. I especially hope this helps juniors who are starting their development journey with an AI IDE.🫰
## 1. Setting up Basic Safety Measures 🔐 - When Antigravity was first released, there was an [incident](https://www.aitimes.com/news/articleView.html?idxno=204522) where an agent, when asked to delete a .vite cache file, wiped the entire D drive. It's problematic if it randomly deletes files or downloads malicious files even within the Workspace, so you can configure the settings as follows. First, open the settings with the shortcut below. > Mac: `Command` + `,`
> Windows: `Ctrl` + `,` - If you scroll down in the Agent settings, you'll find Terminal. People like me who hate having their workflow interrupted by being asked for confirmation, preventing me from doing other things, set it to `Always Proceed`. This is risky, as the Agent can then delete files at will. - That's why the warning sign below appears, telling you to turn on the Sandbox (environment isolation) feature. Currently (as of Feb '26), this is an option available only on Mac. You use the two options found below the Terminal settings. - One is to set up an Allow List, so it can only use commands I've permitted. ## 2. Setting up MCP 🛠️ - MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. Simply put, it's a technology✨ that helps the model understand context more intelligently and enables it to perform functions it couldn't before, essentially giving a Tool (=도구) to an AI that was working with its bare hands. - By using MCP well, you can make it write posts in your Notion or Slack, or connect it to Github to handle tedious tasks like commit, push, and PRs!😎 - You can think of it as a way to expand the capabilities of a robot by adding new weapons or functions, allowing the AI to control external services.💪 - In this post, I will introduce tools that **make the AI work smarter = understand my commands better** and the essential tools that 'you should definitely be using'. ### 2-0. Installing Node.js - Before installing the two MCPs below, you need to have Node.js installed on your PC. If you already have it installed, you can skip this step. 👉 - MCPs are broadly divided into two types. You can use them by simply calling a remote server (http), but they can also work by downloading code created by others locally, running a server, and calling that (stdio). The second method, the stdio local server approach, is often based on npx, meaning it's written in Node.js, which is why you need to install it. - Please refer to [this guide](https://wikidocs.net/178299) to install Node.js according to your environment, and then come back after confirming it's properly installed with the command below. > $ node --version
> v22.15.0 ### 2-1. Sequential Thinking 🤔 - In the case of tools like Claude, Sequential Thinking doesn't even need to be installed; it's built-in as a default MCP. That's how much of a significant difference it makes to an AI's performance. As the name suggests, it's a technology that makes the AI think more **sequentially** about the steps it needs to take to accomplish a user's command. - Although Antigravity natively supports two modes, Planning/Fast, my personal experience is that using Sequential Thinking yields better quality than using Planning mode alone. - In Antigravity Editor mode, if you look at the top right, there's a button with three dots. It basically tells it to always use Sequential Thinking unless it's a simple correction, and to use Context7 when I attach a link and ask for development. > 1. Always use Sequential Thinking MCP except for simple corrections. > 2. Always use Context7 MCP when the user attaches a link and requests development with reference to it. - The reason I write it in English is that for an 'always-on prompt', **Korean consumes 1.5 to 2 or 3 times more tokens than English**, so I tend to write it in English whenever possible. ~~(I can just have the AI translate it anyway😇)~~ - Just write and save it, and you'll see the rule has been registered successfully, as shown below.✨ Now I don't have to write it out myself every time, which is less annoying. However, there are cases where the AI might decide on its own that something is a 'simple correction' and not run Sequential Thinking when I wanted it to.
